ICDM 2025 in Washington DC: Talks, Encounters, and Inspiring Conversations

What a blast at IEEE ICDM 2025 in Washington DC! Between presenting our latest research, bumping into legendary researchers, and diving into fascinating discussions about the future of AI, this conference delivered on every front.

Presenting Our Work on Detecting AI-Generated Content

I presented our paper “A Practical Guide to Detect GenAI Content” at the Workshop on Mining and Managing AI-Generated Content (MMAI). [Slides PDF]

When even experienced reviewers struggle to tell the difference between AI-generated and human-written content, we need better tools. Our research addresses this challenge with practical, deployable solutions that work in real-world scenarios.

Running into Prof. Jure Leskovec

One of the highlights was meeting Prof. Jure Leskovec from Stanford! His pioneering work on graph neural networks and network analysis has shaped so much of modern AI research. We had a great chat about the evolving landscape of AI and where things are heading.

Great Conversations with Leading Minds

The hallway conversations were just as valuable as the sessions. Had thought-provoking exchanges with Prof. Shashi Shekhar (University of Minnesota) and Prof. John Quackenbush (Harvard University) about the future of AI in scientific discovery and publishing.

Came back energized and full of new ideas. Conferences like ICDM remind me why connecting with the research community in person still matters so much. Until next time!
